Chapter 17.1 - Kicking her whilst she’s down





“A search?”

Lou Qingwu hadn’t even replied before third madam Xia Zhuling first called out.

And as if she wasn’t afraid that the world was chaotic enough, continued to wave her handkerchief around, “Then search, search and search! This is the only way to prove that the eldest miss is innocent!”

If they did find it, then the eldest miss would definitely have to be kicked up but if they can’t find it, ha ha ha!

Then she’ll be able to see how that woman Ruan Zhen’s daughter will act out.

Lou Qufeng muttered to himself for a bit before coldly facing a servant, “Go search!”

“Wait!” Lou Qingwu stretched out an arm to stop the servant.

Her eyes faintly showing hurt, “Father, are you really suspicious that your daughter stole little sister’s things?”

Lou Qufeng furrowed his brows, “If you didn’t take it, then even if you let them search, it wouldn’t hurt.”

“Won’t hurt?!” Lou Qingwu asked in reply.

Her face becoming deathly pale, “But if you believed in your daughter, why would you still be suspicious? Even though your daughter was sent to the countryside for three years, she still has a sense of justice and integrity, knowing how to be loyal and righteous. Father really would believe that your daughter would do something like this?”

Her dark eyes were pure without the slightest imperfection.

This Lou Qingwu made Lou Qufeng falter.

Maybe she didn’t steal it? But an imperially bestowed item can’t go missing!

And it was especially because he didn’t actually believe her.

Lian’er was right, she hadn’t seen any nice things in three years, so being possessed by greed and stealing it on impulse was plausible.

“Aiyo, not letting them search? Eldest miss, are you feeling guilty?” Fourth madam continued to fan the fire.

Lou Qufeng’s eyes froze over. “Everyone, go in to search!”

This time, Lou Qingwu didn’t stop them.

She looked at Lou Lianxin’s eyes full of provocation and slowly lowered her own eyes, hiding a flash of indifference.

This was her family.

Her father, her step-mothers, her half sisters, not only kicking her whilst she was down but unable to resist stepping all over her too.

This type of family, wouldn’t it be a waste not fulfilling their expectations?
